Curriculum

All ICPTP scholars are required to complete either Track II or Track III of the CTSI Graduate Training Program in Translational Investigation (formerly known as K30). For more information, please visit the training program website.

ICPTP Scholars completing Track II have unique curriculum requirments, including completing the following courses:


ICPTP Biomath/Biostat Required Coursework

NIH: Principles of Clinical Pharmacology Course

Module 1 - NIH Grant Preparation

Module 2 - Health Services Research

Module 5 - Safety and Regulatory Issues in Patient-Oriented Research

M263: Clinical Pharmacology Course


The following Clinical Research Development Seminar modules are OPTIONAL:

Module 3 - Research in Women’s Health

Module 4 - Brain Mapping for Translational Investigators

Module 6 - The Role of Genetics in Clinical Research

The following are additional components of the program:
  • All Fellows are required to make weekly presentations of Journal Club articles relevant to Clinical Pharmacology. Presentations occur on a rotating basis every Tuesday.
  • All ICPTP scholars are required to apply for full membership to the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) and must attend the ASCPT's annual meeting. In addition, all scholars are encouraged to submit an abstract with their research results at the meeting. Dr. Levey has agreed to sponsor all ICPTP scholars. Please contact our ICPTP Program Coordinator at ICPTP@mednet.ucla.edu to obtain a sponsorship letter. Please visit the ASCPT's website at http://www.ascpt.org for more information.
  • Taking Clinical Pharmacology boards are encouraged.
